This final weekend of June we get 5 new Wide releases, or 4, or perhaps it’s 3 depending on which source we want to use. So for this weekend we will list all 5 of them. Only 2 were selected: A Quiet Place: Day One (37 players) and Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 (11 players), but their Critics reviews are quite opposite. AQPD1 is rated very highly at 85% while Horizon Chap 1 has fared worse as the week went by, currently sitting at 42%. Audiences appear to like them equally.
Box Office Theory recently made their weekend forecasts re-accessible, so we’ll use it while we can so as not to wait forever for Numbers to release their own. BOT seems to be lowballing the projection for AQPD1, as their $48M is lower than the $50M+ I’ve seen most everywhere else. Horizon’s projection isn’t looking good at all. The real news is that Inside Out 2 will push for $500M(!) after only 3 weekends.
