Ok it’s time! SMP 2022 is about to go old school as we take it allllllll the way back to how the pool was managed in 2013. How could anyone forget 2013?? The world went bonkers over Harlem Shake videos. Candy Crush addictions brought in over $1 million per day in app purchases. America was introduced to “Hump Day!” Wednesdays. The words “twerk” and “selfie” were officially added to the dictionary (special thanks to Miley Cyrus’ performance at the MTV Video Music Awards). Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard got married. Steve Martin became a first-time father at age 67.
What else was so memorable about 2013? Well, that was the final year we tracked the SMP manually in spreadsheets before we went big time. And what’s old is apparently new again. Due to our site being on a new host that’s not properly processing user logins/pick selections we will manually submit our Top 10 lists via email so that they can be tracked via spreadsheet throughout the summer. The Admins just love doing extra work!
To submit your Top 10 entry for Summer 2022 we ask that you send your list to the following email address: summermoviepool@gmail.com.
With the first weekend of the summer starting Friday 5/6 (and most likely early shows on Thursday 5/5), our deadline for entry to SMP 2022 will be Wednesday 5/4 at 11:59pm PST. Once the Initial Standings are posted to the website the pool will be locked for the summer.
We still have 10 more days to research and submit picks, and hopefully everyone has been performing their own homework over these past few weeks. There are several very helpful Web Links on the left side of the site to aid in your movie selections. Just remember, the SMP covers all domestic box office grosses from May 1 through August 31. Please refer to the Rules of the Game link for any necessary clarification.
We know that it will be a slow return after being away for the past two years, so we are going to enjoy this SMP and hope that all our friends return. Now get those picks in ASAP! 🙂
