1 new movie opens Wide and it’s already got a $15M head start from Wednesday’s showings. This weekend will be all about Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, picked unanimously by the group (average placement 4.7 with 2 #1s). RT scores of 96%/95%. An ‘A’ CinemaScore. Oh and (no surprise) a 2.5 hour runtime. Still, it’s gunning to become the best opening among all the M:I’s.

  • Mission: Impossible (1996) = $45M
  • Mission: Impossible II (2000) = $57M
  • Mission: Impossible III (2006) = $47M
  • Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011) = $12M (Limited) + $29M (Wide)
  • Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015) = $55M
  • Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018) = $61M

Might also be a good idea to also keep an eye on Sound of Freedom and Insidious: The Red Door which could both surpass $60M after their second weekends.
