The 4th of July holiday weekend got an early start with a Wednesday opening for Minions & Monsters (selected by 37 players). Perhaps influenced by last weekend’s bust performance by Supergirl, BOT is very conservative in their projection of Minions at a 5-day total of $72M. The prior two releases in the spinoff franchise each opened above $100M, so this low would be quite a surprise. The reviews for this third movie are quite good at 90% RT Critics and an ‘A-” CinemaScore. Of course, we do have Toy Story 5 quickly approaching $400M total, so it’s going to be a fight for the kiddo $$$.
Everyone have a SAFE and FUN holiday!
