$120M for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse exceeded all projections to make it the largest opening of the summer. In fact, it was the 8th-largest opening everrrrr for an animated film. With The Little Mermaid slipping a bit it’s possible that SMATSV jumps into the #2 spot as early as next Sunday. Thanks to 96%/97% RT Scores and an ‘A’ CinemaScore it’ll most certainly hang around the top for a while. Ooooo another zinger!
GOTG3 continues to exceed weekend projections with excellent holds as it just pushed across $320M. And once again Fast X underperformed with less than $10M in only its third weekend. Hey, if you haven’t heard it sounds like it’s all Jason Momoa’s fault that FX failed. Right, Vin?
Next Weekend: Just the 1 Wide release in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, selected by 29 players. This is the movie that worries me most as I fear another Terminator: Salvation. There are no RT reviews at this time… and that’s not a good thing.
