With Spider-Man: Brand New Day opening on 7/31 studios have steered completely clear of this upcoming weekend, giving Odyssey room to run in what should be a better-than-expected hold.

- #1 Toy Story 5 ($13.7M) had a fantastic 5th weekend with another excellent hold (-27.6%). At $429.8M it climbed 20 spots to #35 on the All Time domestic box office list. Next on the list at #34 is 2019’s Toy Story 4 ($434.0M). We are looking at a new franchise record.
- #2 Obsession ($2.3M) does it again in its 10th weekend with another sub-50% hold (-37.8%). Its $258.3M total is now at #158 All Time. Next on the list at #157 is 2013’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (also at $258.3M).
- After 12 weekends, #3 The Devil Wears Prada 2 ($36K) played in as many theaters as it just lost (40 total). At $220.4M it’s likely to see an upcoming weekend placement drop.
- #4 Backrooms ($714K) finally slipped below $1M (-53%) and below 1,000 theaters in its 8th weekend. While a spot drop is expected soon, at $195.9M the more interesting story is if it can reach $200M. It’s sooooo close.

- #6 Minions & Monsters ($13.6M) jumps a spot after a nice hold in its 3rd weekend (-35.7%). $150M is a certainty, but $200M may no longer be realistic.
- #8 Disclosure Day ($1.3M) slips 2 spots in its 6th weekend after taking a hit from losing over 900 theaters (-59.8%). $114.6M is enough to stay ahead of the next movie on the list, and perhaps also the under-performing Moana?
- #9 Scary Movie ($240K) dropped 1 spot, and at $107.5M is also hoping to luck into staying permanently ahead of Moana.
Next Weekend: The weekend brings us 3 new Wide Releases, but none are expected to dent the SMP in what should be a clear path for more Odyssey destruction.
