This last weekend of June is looking a bit more competitive as the top 5 movies are all projected to earn anywhere from $23M to $38M. Interesting tidbit… there haven’t been five movies to all hit $20M in the same weekend since 2016. Elvis (selected by 33 players) is expected to lead the way, but for all we know it could just be another Top Gun 2 explosion as it surpasses the $500M mark. Once concern for Elvis is its 2 hour and 39 minute runtime. That’s a lot of hip-wiggling.

The Black Phone (6 players) held a 100% rating for the longest time thanks to a World Premiere at Fantastic Fest back in September 2021, and with more reviews coming in for this summer’s release it’s doing nicely at 87%. Perhaps it too will have staying power with those good reviews.

All three newcomers do have good critic and audience reviews, but with Marcel the Shell With Shoes On (2 players) only getting Limited release despite a 100% rating, it’s just not going to be a factor this summer.

Elvis should be king this weekend.
