Thor: Love and Thunder looks like a smash hit with a $144M weekend, making it the biggest opening and the Thorest of the Thors:

Thor: Love and Thunder – $144M
Thor: Ragnarok (2017) – $122M
Thor: The Dark World (2013) – $85M
Thor (2011) – $65M

But as we dig a little deeper we learn that this 29th MCU film’s Critic score of 68% on RT lands it as the 4th worst reviewed of them all. In fact, it became only the 4th MCU film to get a CinemaScore below an ‘A’ (Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness just recently became the 3rd). Hey, at least it’s no Eternals. It’ll still make bank and should easily surpass $300M… but I don’t think it’ll threaten Strange 2 as #2 this summer. Who does Number Two work for?!

Our weekly Top Gun 2 tracker: Sooooo close to $600M as another $14M (on just a 40% drop) puts it at $597M. It’ll cross $600M any day now.

And keep an eye on both Elvis and The Black PhoneElvis is expected to cross $100M by next weekend, and Black Phone keeps pulling in $$$ with good % holds and should hit $70M soon.

Next Weekend: Not only do we get 3 new releases selected in Where the Crawdads Sing (1 player), Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank (9 players) and The Gray Man (3 players), but we also get the unexpected Wide expansion of Marcel the Shell With Shoes On. Never give up! That is, unless you picked The Gray Man, as it was made for Netflix and gets only a brief Limited release in theaters. Now I gotta find out where it is playing in Jax because it’s not at AMC 😐
