Current Top 10
Another major release performed (slightly) better than projected as Fast X rode its 87% RT Audience rating and B+ CinemaScore to a $67M opening, good for tops of the weekend. Was there really any doubt that this #10 would be a money-maker? Well, not as much money as last summer’s F9 opening. That’s what it gets for no car-in-space scene! Just remember that the Top 10 cutoff in 2022 was only $82M, so it’s definitely safe.
GOTG3 had another excellent hold of -47.7% and is now at $266M. Another strong week/weekend and we should see $300M before Memorial Day.
And look what finally reported box office results after its second weekend. It may only be $627K for Rally Road Racers, but for the player who selected it that means he now has a (very good) shot at the Bonehead Award. Whew.
Next Weekend: The Little Mermaid is expected to crush the upcoming holiday weekend, with Boxoffice Pro recently projecting $101M over the first 3 days and $129M over the full 4 days. That’s awesome for the 37 of us who picked it… but sucks for the 1 who didn’t. Whoops! We also have 1 player banking on The Machine to be the surprise comedy hit of the summer. Gooooood luck with that.
